Retail sales of Ford vehicles primarily include the sales by dealers. Their number is based in part on estimated vehicle registrations including medium and heavy trucks. The estimate on industry volume in the first table is based on data collected from various publicly available government, public and private sources of data from across the globe. Ford's retail sales in US have remained nearly stable for the past there years. From 2015 to 2017 the brand has continued to sell around 2.6 million vehicles. However, Ford's market share in US improved slightly in 2017 from 14.6% to 14.8%.
How many trucks, SUVs and cars did Ford sell in US?
It sold approximately 2.6 million vehicles of which 1.1 million were trucks. It also sold 867,909 SUVs and 595,390 cars. The North American markets account for the highest sales of Ford vehicles followed by Europe and Asia Pacific. It sold approximately 3 million vehicles in North America and 1.6 and 1.5 million in Europe and Asia Pacific respectively. While sales in North America remained stable compared to the previous year, it increased in Europe and fell in Asia Pacific. In 2016, it sold 1.6 million vehicles in Asia Pacific. Ford's market share in Europe was 7.5% whereas that in Asia Pacific was 3.4%. In both the markets, overall market share of Ford has seen a decline. In North American markets, its share remained stable at 13.9%.
