ZARA is the largest brand in Inditex’s portfolio. It accounts for the largest part of entire revenue of Inditex (around 65%). In 2017, ZARA’s revenue reached 16.6 Billion dollars rising from 15.4 Billion dollars in 2016. The number of ZARA stores was 2,251 in 2017 which came down to 2,238 in the first half of 2018.
Inditex has expanded fast in the recent years through both online and physical channels. It is headquartered at Arteixo, A Coruña, Spain. The company is selling in 96 markets through its several brands. Its flagship brand is ZARA with the highest number of retail stores globally. Market expansion has led to growth in the size of its human capital as well. Number of employees at Inditex in 2017 equalled 171,839. For the seventh consecutive year, it has been recognised as the best employer in entire Spain by Merco Talento. Research by Merco Talento and Universum shows the position of Inditex as an employer has continued to improve every year.
Inditex has eight brands in its portfolio – ZARA, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home and Uterqüe. ZARA is the oldest as well as largest among these accounting for around 66% of the brand’s entire revenue in 2017. The success of Inditex can be attributed to its integrated business model and its well managed supply chain as well as its passion for creativity. It has grown its retail network vastly in the recent years. In 2017, apart from its 7475 retail stores in 96 markets, the brand was selling globally in 47 markets through its online channels. The number of retail stores reduced to 7422 in the first half of 2018 and the number of online markets increased to 48.
