McDonald's is a leading name in the fast food industry that  operates and franchises fast food restaurants in more than 120 countries around the world. The company operates a very large chain of fast food restaurants. A very large part of the fast food chain is run by the franchisees (close to 90%). The brand is trying to expand these numbers further by reducing the number of company operated restaurants and increasing the number of franchised outlets. For the last four years, the franchised sales of McDonald's have continued to rise fast. In 2017, its franchised sales rose to 78.2 Billion dollars from 69.7 Billion dollars in 2016.
