McDonald's Number of restaurants 2006-2017 

The following table shows the number of total McDonald's restaurants worldwide  from 2006 to 2017 including those operated by the company as well as those operated by the franchisees.

McDonald's is among the most famous fast food chains of the world, currently operating across more than 100 countries. The brand is primarily a franchisor whose more than 90% of restaurants are owned and operated by Franchisees. As of 2017, there were 37241 restaurants of McDonald's operational across 120 countries. Out of the total restaurants operated under the brand name of McDonald's, 34108 were franchised and 3133 were run by the government. Its restaurants mostly serve a uniform menu apart from minor variations made in order to suit the local consumers of various markets. The number of restaurants owned by the brand has reduced by around 2500 whereas of franchised restaurants has increased by around 3000 in 2017 as compared to 2016. The number of total McDonald's restaurants operational globally was only 36899 in the year 2016.
